Meles Holds Talks With IFJ President and Of Africa

Prime Minister Meles ZenawiAddis Ababa, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi held talks here on Saturday with executives of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) here on Sunday.

Prime Minister Meles had deliberated with Jim Buamala, President of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Aidan White, General Secretary of IFJ, Omar Faruk Osman, President of FAJ and Gabriel Baglo, IFJ Africa Director on various issues, according to Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency.

Prime Minister Meles said on the occasion that journalists have the leading role to get continue Africa's growth.

Meles also stressed the need on ways of addressing problems of journalists in Africa and enhancing journalism profession.

Meles also mentioned the difficulty of exercising journalism profession in countries like Eritrea and Somalia.

He said African journalists need to be able to express balanced view and work for the growth of the African continent.

Meles said Ethiopia is open for those who will strive for ensuring press freedom in the country.
